About the Artist

August was born in Grand Marais MN, 1997. He spent the first eight years of his life in Minnesota with his family and three cats. In 2005 August moved out to a small Lutheran-affiliated community in Washington State called Holden Village. Here, at the age of 8, he started to study art, music, and theater under the guidance of his community's abundant wealth of knowledge. In 2015 August graduated high school from Holden Village a year early so that he could study Studio Art at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. He has shown work in various juried shows at college, and most recently has produced his capstone series of oil paintings.August received his BA in Studio Art and Philosophy from St. Olaf in 2019.
